Students can begin to develop skills associated with historical thinking by looking at multiple sources and prospectives. Historical narratives are pieced together by historians and archaeologists, typically through the lens of a primary source. When students are permitted to analyze diaries, eyewitness accounts, letters, and artifacts, they not only develop an understanding of how history can be interpreted, but they also become active participants in the process.

An important part of the 7th grade curriculum includes studying the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, and the First Global Age. Students will cover everything from the Hundred Years War to the invention of the printing press, tying it all together to create a narrative that explains how these events, coupled with the age of exploration, helped to bring civilization to its First Global Age.
